Since then, it has facilitated a citywide conversation on climate change and has approved plans to more than halve its own carbon footprint by 2025.

In addition to decarbonising its own operations, including through the transformation of its fleet with over 340 EV’s now in use, the council also aims to influence, educate and inspire residents, businesses and central government to follow its lead on sustainability.

The University boasts one of the largest engineering schools in the UK. The Wolfson School of Mechanical, Electrical and Manufacturing Engineering is a leader in technological research and innovation and plays host to the AMiCc team that is working on system design optimisation and pathways to standardisation.

Transport Technologies is a core research beacon at Loughborough University that has a current portfolio of active research valued in excess of £90 million with approximately 110 academic staff active in research related to advancing and decarbonising global transport.

The Principal Investigator of the Loughborough AMiCc team has recently concluded work with Jaguar Land Rover as part of the £10 million EPSRC Program for Simulation Innovation (PSi). In this 5 year multi-university collaborative programme, the Loughborough team used advanced systems engineering principles and methods to develop tools to reliably and rapidly integrate increased levels of digitally-enabled functionality into a vehicle as a complex system.

The University of Nottingham (UoN) is a leading international institution that teaches 43,000 students annually and is the number one choice among the UK’s top graduate employers. In the Faculty of Engineering, where the AMiCc investigators are based, more than 98 per cent of research is of international quality, with 85 per cent graded as ‘world-leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’.
